WiMax is a wireless standard that's relatively long-range, like cellular, but fast, like WiFi. It's rolling out in trials now: AT&T is testing WiMax with two corporate customers in New Jersey. This bodes well for the future of the technology: If it's reliable enough for a corporation, it should be solid enough for small businesses and end users.
